The Center for Mayan Women
Communicators (CMCM)
is a non-profit organization whose website is hosted
by SDNP which also provides it technical support. The center's activities
are determined by the indigenous women who participate and coordinated
by a directive committee. It functions primarily as a center for
indigenous women to :

unite and communicate
-
develop skills in communications technology to enable
them to better their representation in the world and in the media.
Video and photography are often used as tools for research, reflection
and organization. Workshops are offered in video, photography, computer
use and internet communication.

share information with neighboring communities who
can indentify with the local images in the videos. Visual media are used
to cross barriers of language and literacy.

E-commerce in Traditional Handicrafts,
woven bags, miniatures...

The products that you see on this page come from
different indigenous groups from the regions of Sololá, Quiché,
Huehuetenango & Chimaltenango. Most of the producers live in isolated
areas where they have little opportunity to sell their products.
CMCM
helps the women to find alternative markets and keep these tradional crafts
alive.
